Water - Energy
Nexus

Cities now no longer need to follow the old “take, make, dispose” model. At Nexus-Ecosystems, we complete the energy and water loop by transforming wastewater and organic food waste into valuable resources.

Our Water-Energy Nexus approach creates a circular system where:

  • Waste streams generate clean, 24/7 renewable energy.

  • Treated water is recycled to achieve urban self-sufficiency.

  • Valuable nutrients and biomaterials are recovered instead of discarded.

There are 3 main steps which are:

  • Autogenic-Gas-Lift-Reactor (AGLR)

  • Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC)

  • Aqua-Regen Bioprocess (ARB)

Autogenic Gas-Lift Reactor

At the core of our process is the Autogenic Gas-Lift Reactor, a breakthrough in anaerobic digestion that solves the weaknesses of traditional systems.

  • Self-powered mixing: Uses its own biogas for continuous gas-lift circulation — no mechanical mixers, no dead zones.

  • High-solid retention: Keeps valuable sludge inside the system, maintaining a strong and stable microbial community.

  • Versatile feedstock: Handles both wastewater and food waste, unlocking more energy from the same infrastructure.

Solid Oxide Fuel Cells

Biogas from the AGLR is converted into clean power using Solid Oxide Fuel Cells — one of the most advanced energy conversion systems available today.

  • High efficiency: Up to 65% electrical efficiency, >85% with combined heat & power.

  • Silent operation: No combustion, no vibration, no noise — perfect for dense urban settings.

  • Ultra-clean emissions: Virtually zero NOx or SOx, and powered by renewable biogas.

Aqua-Regen Bioprocess

To close the loop, our Aqua-Regen Bioprocess transforms effluent into a source of recycled fresh water.

  • Zero underwater mechanics: Pure gas drive keeps energy use low and operations simple.

  • Compact, high-capacity design: High sludge concentrations accelerate pollutant removal in a smaller footprint.

  • Resource recovery built-in: Advanced nutrient removal and opportunities to capture valuable byproducts.

  • Freshwater self-sufficiency: Provides drought-proof recycled water for reuse or storage.
